When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerising voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.
What Bella doesn’t realise is that the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And it might be too late to turn back…
I don’t read vampire stories where vampires aren’t violent nasty monsters, because lets face it, that is what vampires are. So I was pleasantly surprised to be suckered in by this story… so much so I brought the series for myself.
The writing is captivating and it truly captures the teenage angst that occurs when one first discovers their true love. Of course this is complicated for Bella further because the man she falls for could also kill her.
The story twists and turns between Edward pushing Bella away to accepting her and discovering that he, in fact, loves her too. It becomes complicated when Bella, introduced to Edward’s family, who are all non violent vampires, and they stumble across a coven of real vampires. A game of cat and mouse begins that could end in eternal pain for both.
I will continue to review the other three stories in this series.
