A man. A woman. The heat of an Iowa summer. And the brief encounter whose passion will last a lifetime.
I watched this movie years ago as a teenager. I loved the story and the intensity of the relationship and I hoped that one day I would get to experience something like it.
When I found this book in the library, I had to read it, because I knew that the book is always better than the movie. This time I was wrong, the movie was able to portray the intensity of the relationship much better than the written word could.
The story delves more into the history of the characters, Francesca is fromItaly, brought out toIowa’sMadisonCountyby her husband after they met in World War II. Robert Kincaid was a photographer for the National Geographic, a lonely man, once married, but prefers his own company, until he meets Francesca on a day made by fate.
The four days that they spend together are intense and exciting, and Francesca has to make a decision; to stay with her family, or leave and live an exciting life with Robert. Her decision has implications for the rest of their lives and Francesca has to wonder if she ever made the right decision.
